Minister Iipumbu Inaugurates Ogongo Annual Festival, Emphasizes Agricultural Growth

Ogongo, Omusati Region – Lucia Iipumbu, Minister of Industrialisation and Trade (MIT), underscored agriculture as a key growth sector at the official opening of the Ogongo Annual Festival on Friday.

During her address at the festival, themed ‘Live, Love, and Enjoy Through Innovation,’ Iipumbu emphasized the importance of the event in celebrating cultural diversity, unity, and the richness of life. She highlighted various regional and constituency initiatives designed to enhance agricultural activities, notably mentioning the recent acquisition of tractors from the government. These tractors, Iipumbu noted, arrive at a crucial time to boost the region’s agricultural capabilities through modern technology.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade is committed to fostering entrepreneurial and business development in the country. She encouraged the community, especially the youth, to actively engage with the MIT, including its regional office in Outapi, to learn more about various programmes and initiatives that could lead to significant economic growth and development in the settlement.

Iipumbu also mentioned the ministry’s ongoing consultative engagements, where vital information about initiatives like the Emperetec Training Programme is shared. She urged businesses of all levels, including informal traders and startups, to be innovative and collaborative. The minister advised these groups to form clusters and seek assistance from the MIT.

The Ogongo Annual Festival, which began on Thursday, is set to conclude on Sunday, offering a platform for showcasing and celebrating the region’s agricultural and cultural potential.
