Ouagadougou: Minister Roger Baro has called on his colleagues to engage in a patriotic commitment for the success of the reforestation campaign, emphasizing the importance of June for environmental restoration efforts. The call to action was made during the traditional June raising of the colors ceremony at the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation.
According to Burkina Information Agency, during the ceremony, Minister Baro highlighted the significance of June in the Ministry’s calendar, particularly with the upcoming World Environment Day on June 5 in Kaya, and National Tree Day, which will also mark the launch of the national reforestation campaign. Minister Baro urged his colleagues and stakeholders to implement strong and concrete actions to ensure the success of these initiatives.
Minister Baro announced that innovations would mark this year’s National Tree Day, with a goal to plant and secure 5 million trees simultaneously across the country. He encouraged everyone to participate in reforesting their neighborhoods, framing it as a patriotic duty rather than an obligation. “These aren’t terms; they’re actions. We must be part of this dynamic,” Baro stated, urging a revolutionary approach to environmental actions.
