Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will tomorrow, Wednesday 04 May 2022 deliver an opening address at the UNESCO’s O3 and O3 plus 2021 Annual Review and Partners’ Meeting. The meeting will take place at the Palazzo Montecasino Conference Venue in Fourways, Johannesburg, South Africa from 4-6 May 2022.

The meeting is aimed at reviewing progress from the 33 programme countries in the Eastern and Southern Africa and West Central Africa.

The O3 and O3 plus programmes build on the achievements of the landmark 2013 Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) Ministerial Commitment, which has been instrumental in scaling-up comprehensive sexuality education and access to youth-friendly sexual and reproductive health services for young people. The ESA Commitment on education, health and well-being of adolescents and young people has been renewed until 2030.

Through the O3 Programme UNESCO aims to reach 10.7 million learners in 45 000 primary and secondary schools; 30 000 pre-service teachers; and 186 000 in-service teachers.
