Migori Women Encouraged to Form Groups for NGAAF Funding


MIGORI — In a move to bolster economic empowerment among women and vulnerable groups, Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohammed distributed a cheque of Sh100,000 from the National Government Affirmative Fund (NGAAF) to the Loving Sisters Women Group in Migori County. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote enterprise and value-addition initiatives within the community.



According to Kenya News Agency, which operates under the Ministry of Public Service, Youth, and Gender Affairs, is designed to support the socio-economic empowerment of women, youth, persons with disabilities, needy children, and elderly persons across the country. The fund aligns with Kenya’s Vision 2030 development blueprint, specifically under the Social Pillar, aiming to enhance access to financial facilities for the nation’s most vulnerable groups.



During the fund disbursement ceremony in Migori town, Fatuma emphasized the significance of the NGAAF in facilitating the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and fostering self-reliance among beneficiaries. She encouraged women and other vulnerable groups in Migori County to form societies and groups as a strategy to access government funds such as NGAAF and Uwezo Funds.



Palema Odhiambo, a member of the Loving Sisters Group which benefited from the funds, echoed Fatuma’s call. She urged women in the county to unite and form groups to take advantage of the financial support offered by the government. Odhiambo also expressed gratitude towards Fatuma for the financial boost, highlighting the potential impact on their business ventures.
