Middle East Tensions Escalate with Casualties in Gaza and Syria, Violence in Sudan

GAZA/DAMASCUS/KHARTOUM — The Middle East witnessed significant violence on Tuesday, with deadly airstrikes in Gaza and Syria, and a violent attack in Sudan, resulting in numerous casualties, including women and children.

According to Namibia Press Agency, in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes targeted a four-story residential building in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing 16 people as reported by Gaza's Civil Defense Authority. Additional strikes in central and southern Gaza brought the day's death toll to at least 24 Palestinians.

In Damascus, Syria, an Israeli attack on the residential neighborhood of Mazzeh resulted in seven deaths and 11 injuries. Syria's state news agency SANA reported that among the casualties were children and women who were admitted to hospitals following the attack.

Further, in western Sudan's North Kordofan State, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) were accused of attacking the village of Al-Dammokia, killing at least 20 people and injuring three others. The Sudanese Doctors Network noted that the victims included elderly people and children.

In a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Israel had killed "thousands" of Hezbollah members, including Hashem Safieddine, a key figure in the organization. In a video message to the people of Lebanon, Netanyahu called for the liberation of Lebanon from Hezbollah, blaming the group for the country's financial crisis.
