MICT Oshana Organizes Pre-Independence Film Screenings for Youth Education

Oshana: The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) in the Oshana Region has launched a series of pre-Independence film screenings to educate young people about Namibia's liberation struggle in anticipation of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations. According to Namibia Press Agency, Senior Information Officer at the Oshana Regional Office, Hileni Mwandingi, shared that the screenings commenced on Monday and are scheduled to continue until Friday. The initiative aims to educate the younger generation on the history of Namibia's struggle for independence, instilling a sense of patriotism and appreciation for the country's sovereignty. Mwandingi emphasized that the screenings are also a call for reflection on the nation's journey since achieving independence. She stated, "We are conducting these ahead of the independence celebrations to awaken the spirit of nationalism and remind our people why we are celebrating independence, and also to make our people reflect on how far we have com e as a nation." The featured film, 'Namibia, The Struggle for Liberation,' focuses on the liberation struggle, highlighting the role of the late Founding President Sam Nujoma. The screenings primarily target school learners in the region and are being held at several schools, including Okaukuejo Combined School, Omapopo Combined School, Eheke Secondary School, and Okatana Secondary School. Mwandingi noted that this initiative is part of a larger ministry program aimed at promoting Namibia's creative industry.
