Kossi: The new bishop of the diocese of Nouna, Mgr Guy Mukassa Sanon, has urged Catholic faithful to collaborate with different religious denominations to foster the reign of God on earth. This call to action marked his formal assumption of office during a thanksgiving mass on Sunday, May 11, 2025, attended by various administrative, religious, customary, military, and paramilitary authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Bishop Guy Mukassa Sanon was appointed by Pope Francis on January 25, 2025, succeeding Bishop Joseph Sana, who retired after dedicated pastoral service. Mgr Sanon was ordained a priest in 1996 in the Archdiocese of Bobo-Dioulasso and served as the rector of the Saint-Pierre-Saint Paul Major Seminary of Kossoghin in Ouagadougou prior to his appointment.

In his homily, Bishop Sanon emphasized the importance of Catholics working together with different religious denominations to build the kingdom of God on earth. He highlighted that this goal could be achieved through consultation, social cohesion, and unity among the daughters and sons of the province.
