Mexico City: The Mexican government on Wednesday rejected media reports that the United States has pressured Mexico to investigate, prosecute, or extradite officials allegedly tied to organized crime.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Mexico’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement on the social platform X, clarifying that no such requests were made during meetings with Senator Marco Rubio or officials from the U.S. State Department. The ministry emphasized that their discussions with the U.S. have been transparent and focused on a variety of issues, including security cooperation. These discussions are grounded in principles such as sovereignty, coordination without subordination, and respect for human rights.
The statement from the ministry highlighted the shared agenda between the two countries, which includes migration, development, and combating organized crime.
