Members of 71-Person Pakistani Delegation Express Interest in Investing in Ethiopia

Addis Ababa Members of the 71-person Pakistani business delegation visiting Ethiopia have expressed their interest to invest in the country.

A business delegation is visiting Ethiopia to explore investment and trade opportunities in the country. for about a week

Some members of the delegation told ENA that they are studying the investment options in different sectors and are interested to invest in several sectors in Ethiopia.

Some of the sectors that the investors indicated interest to invest include agriculture, manufacturing, and financial services.

Amid the sweeping reforms the Government of Ethiopia has been carrying out to create favorable condition for foreign investment and the evolving Ethio-Pakistan relations, the investors are exploring profitable sectors that are also priorities of the government.

Roshan Packages Company Director, Zaki Aijaz expressed his company’s interest to invest in the untapped agriculture sector of Ethiopia.

He is convinced that his company can expand modern farming, including irrigation, and install agro-processing plant that will help transfer technology and experience.

The director stated that Ethiopia’s agriculture is a potential for economic growth and his company can play its part in the effort to build an economy that is suitable for the environment and climate by reusing waste products.

“In Ethiopia, we have very good business opportunities, especially in agriculture. We are ready to invest in fruits and vegetables farming. We are ready to install processing plant for fruits and vegetables, to establish logistics in cold storage, and we are also ready to invest in packaging sector. We can transfer our knowledge because we are very established in agriculture. We have very good water, canals, dams, and irrigation system.”
