The Portfolio Committee on Defence and Military Veterans will tomorrow receive an update from the Minister of Defence, Government Pensions Administration Agency (GPAA) and from the Department of Military Veterans on the rollout of military veterans pension benefits. On 20 September 2023, the Department of Defence (DOD) and the GPAA briefed the committee on their readiness to start paying out pension benefits to military veterans, however, the committee recommended that the DOD needed to amend the already published gazette to include 1 April 2023 as a date to effect payments.
