Mbumba Urges Ministers to Prepare for Future

Windhoek: President Nangolo Mbumba has urged Cabinet members to prepare for the future, as the current session ends before the presidential inauguration on 21 March 2025. During the official opening of the year's first Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Mbumba noted that since some ministers may not be part of the incoming Cabinet, they should prepare for the future.

According to Namibia Press Agency, President Mbumba encouraged those who may not continue in their roles to consider opportunities beyond their current positions. He emphasized the importance of readiness and adaptability, noting that the country offers various opportunities for those willing to explore them. Mbumba, who assumed office after the passing of former President Hage Geingob on 04 February 2024, marked his first year in office on Tuesday. He will continue to serve until the new government is inaugurated next month.

Mbumba also called on ministers to maximize their remaining time in office by working diligently to complete pending tasks. He emphasized the importance of concluding all dossiers, programs, and activities by 20 March 2025. This includes focusing on green schemes, which he personally visited last year, and implementing policies to stimulate economic growth and improve service delivery across the nation.

The Cabinet's productivity was highlighted, with 22 decision-making meetings held last year resulting in 320 decisions. These encompassed 229 policy initiatives, 32 administrative matters, 42 statutory submissions, and 17 pieces of legislation. Mbumba stressed that these decisions should lead to tangible improvements in the quality of life for Namibians, aiming for economic growth, job creation, and poverty eradication, particularly for the youth.

In closing, President Mbumba urged ministers to finalize their handover reports and submit them to the Office of the President via the prime minister's office, ensuring a seamless transition for the incoming administration.
