Mbumba: At a major political rally in Swakopmund, President Nangolo Mbumba emphasized the practicality of the Swapo Party's manifesto, promising no "pie in the sky" commitments but a focus on substantive economic and youth empowerment agendas. According to Namibia Press Agency, speaking at the party's second star rally in the Erongo Region, President Mbumba highlighted that the Swapo Party's manifesto is built on its achievements over the past 34 years and sets realistic goals for the next five years. He reassured the public of the party's focus on essential issues impacting everyday life and expressed confidence in their candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah to lead what he referred to as the "second struggle for economic emancipation of Namibians." Mbumba's speech also marked a contrast between Swapo's longstanding governance and the emergence of new political groups. Under the theme "Unity in Diversity: Natural Resources Beneficiation and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development," the president presented the party's manifesto. He stressed the importance of utilizing Namibia's natural resources more effectively by increasing local processing to create jobs and foster business development within the country. Mbumba was specific about not exporting raw materials such as lithium without first adding local value, a policy move aimed at bolstering the national economy. The president also touched on the critical issue of youth empowerment, emphasizing the need for quality education, vocational training, and support for small and medium enterprises. He articulated a vision where empowering young people is seen as a pathway to broader national prosperity.
