Matala: Farmers in the municipality of Matala, in southern Hula province, expect to harvest 112,000 tons of various products from 140,000 hectares prepared for the current agricultural year, authorities revealed this Monday in the village of Cuvelai, which hosted the launch of the 2025/2026 campaign.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the municipal director of Agriculture and Livestock, Bernardo Chicomo, informed that to achieve the objectives, the local government distributed improved cereal seeds, machetes, hoes, and fertilizers. In the previous campaign, 87,000 tons of various products were harvested.

In total, 15,000 families will produce at least 15 types of food in the agricultural campaign, mostly related to family farming. The campaign involves 37 agricultural cooperatives, 41 farmers' associations, two companies, and 16 agricultural farms.

Chicomo appealed to cooperatives, associations, individual producers, and companies to be more committed to the work, so that in the end everyone can have a satisfactory harvest, helping to reduce hunger and poverty, as well as providing sustainable development for the municipality. Matala is located 180 kilometers east of Lubango and is the second most populated municipality in Hula, after Lubango.
