Marell Academy in Bungoma County Achieves Outstanding KCPE Results After Challenging Years

Bungoma, Kenya – Marell Academy in Bungoma County has made a remarkable comeback in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations, delivering exceptional results after several challenging years. This achievement was announced following the release of the KCPE results by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

According to Kenya News Agency, Bungoma County had 75,047 candidates registered for the KCPE and 54,859 for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) this year. Marell Academy emerged as a top-performing private school in Bungoma, with its highest-scoring candidate achieving 416 marks. The school’s success has outpaced other notable private institutions in the region, such as Lotus Academy in Bukembe, Father Walstra Academy in Musikoma, and Christ the King Primary School in Bungoma town.

David Kang’o, the Chief Principal of Marell schools, expressed gratitude to the school’s directors, parents, teachers, and candidates for their contributions to this success. He attributed the outstanding results to collective hard work and dedication. Kang’o remarked, “We have been in the cold for several years but this year, God has rewarded our efforts.” He also mentioned that the school has implemented strategies to ensure continued improvement in future examinations.

This year, Marell Academy presented 30 candidates for the KCPE, all of whom performed impressively. Kang’o highlighted that out of these, 12 scored 400 marks and above. Top performers included Dolphin Barasa with 416 marks, Gideon Wamalwa with 414, Job Reagan with 410, Felisters Shimuli with 408, and Naomi Mutheu with 404.

Kang’o also addressed the need for the Ministry of Education to allocate more Form One slots to private schools, pointing out that private institutions have historically received fewer positions.

In a related issue, Tobias Khisa, the head teacher of Bungoma DEB, which registered 486 candidates, expressed frustration with the slow access to exam results via the designated SMS code. Khisa stated, “We are frustrated with the way exam information was supposed to reach us. The code that KNEC directed we use stopped working immediately after the CS finished reading the results.”

Marell Academy’s success in the KCPE marks a significant milestone in the school’s journey, showcasing the resilience and dedication of the school community in Bungoma County.
