Marcus Kouaman Elected President of Press Card Issuing Committee

Ouagadougou: The first words of Marcus Kouaman, the newly elected president of the technical committee responsible for the issuance of the Press Card and the Pass, were words of gratitude. Kouaman expressed his appreciation to his peers and the Association of Publishers and Online Media Professionals of Burkina (AEPML) for entrusting him with this significant role.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Kouaman, who is also a journalist and the publication director of the online newspaper La Tribune du Faso, highlighted the crucial role of the press card and pass for media professionals. “The press card and the pass are essential for media professionals in the exercise of their duties,” he stated, emphasizing the committee’s responsibility to ensure that the issuance of these documents adheres to relevant regulations, thereby ensuring fairness and impartiality.

Kouaman will be assisted in his role by Evariste Kabor©, the elected vice-president, and Elza Sandrine Sawadogo, the rapporteur, along with other members of the technical committee. The newly formed committee was installed by the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Pingdwend© Gilbert Ou©draogo, during a ceremony held on Thursday morning.

The committee consists of 12 members from professional media organizations and 4 observers representing the Ministry in charge of Communication and the Higher Council for Communication (CSC). It is tasked with issuing press cards and passes to qualified media professionals, thereby aiding in the regulation and improvement of the media sector.
