Marakwet East Residents Benefit from Free Medical-Surgical Screening and Treatment

Marakwet East — In a collaborative initiative between Iten County Referral Hospital (ICRH), AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital, and Tot Sub County Hospital, residents of Marakwet East Sub County are receiving free medical-surgical screening and treatment.

According to Kenya News Agency, a medical practitioner at Iten County Referral Hospital, the medical camp has successfully attracted hundreds of residents from the sub-county and surrounding areas since its start last Friday.

Dr. Jemutai emphasized the importance of the campaign, stating that the services are free and encouraging all residents to take advantage of this unique healthcare opportunity. The initiative has drawn patients with a range of medical conditions, many of whom have not been able to afford such expert care previously.

Residents have expressed appreciation for the medical camp, lauding the teams of doctors, nurses, and support staff for their dedication and hard work. Mary Kiprop, a resident who has benefited from the camp, shared her experience, noting that she has been suffering from a condition that she could not afford to treat and is now receiving necessary care.

The medical camp provides a wide array of services, including screening for common ailments, surgical consultations, and when necessary, referrals for advanced medical treatment. Dr. William Korir, a surgeon from AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital, explained that the initiative aims to improve the overall health of the community, providing not just immediate treatment but also referring patients who require specialized care to appropriate facilities.
