Manuel Camati Elected CNE Spokesperson

Luanda: Manuel Sabonete Camati was appointed on Thursday as the spokesperson of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), replacing Lucas Quilundo, who is currently a judge on the Constitutional Court. Camati, a law professor at Agostinho Neto University, was appointed during the CNE's first plenary session. He has been a CNE member since 2012.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Camati is an Angolan academic with a Ph.D. in law from the University of Lisbon. He is a lawyer and a professor at the Faculty of Law at Agostinho Neto University (UAN). He is also the author of the book "The Failures of the Market" and is recognized in Angola's legal and economic fields, with a significant presence in teaching and research.

The history of the CNE spokesperson position includes Adao de Almeida, who served from 2005 to 2008, followed by Julia Ferreira, who held the position until 2017. Camati is succeeding Quilundo, who served as spokesperson from 2018 to 2024.
