Polokwane—A manhunt has been initiated in the Mankweng policing area for an unknown male suspect who allegedly robbed a 25-year-old male of a cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to a new release by South African Police Service, the robbery took place on Saturday, 28 October 2023 at approximately 15:50, when the victim was waiting for a Minibus to go shopping at Paledi Mall.
The victim claims that a white Polo motor vehicle, driven by an unknown male estimated to be between the ages of 30 and 35, offered him a lift to the mall. After driving off, the driver pulled out a firearm and ordered the victim to place all his belongings on the dashboard. The victim complied and was then forcibly removed from the vehicle at gunpoint.
Immediately after the incident, the victim reported it to Mankweng police station, prompting the activation of a substantial search for the suspect aimed at swift apprehension. The police are urging anyone with information that can lead to an arrest to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Samuel Malemela at 0767498403, the crime stop number at 08600 10111, the nearest police station, or through the MySAPSApp.
