Manga University Center Graduates Urged to Contribute to National Development

Manga: The Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Professor Adjima Thiombiano, encouraged the first cohort of Bachelor's degree graduates from the University Center of Manga (CUM) to apply their skills towards national development during a graduation ceremony held in Manga. The graduates, totaling 550 and named the "Resilience" class, were urged to dedicate their capabilities to the growth of the nation. Present at the ceremony were other government officials, including the Ministers of Basic Education, Jacques Sosthene Dingara, Secondary Education, Professor Mounouni Zoungrana, and Sports, Annick Pikbougoum/Zingue Ouattara.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, themed "Youth and education: levers of entrepreneurship in Burkina Faso," gathered administrative, political, academic, customary, and religious authorities, along with a large audience of students, teachers, and parents. The 550 graduates received diplomas in agro-sylvo-pastoral, socio-anthropology, psychology, and philosophy, marking the culmination of years of academic effort amidst structural challenges.

Minister Thiombiano emphasized that the event reflects the government's vision for skills training. He stated, "Every learner who graduates from our universities must be a true expert, capable of contributing to national development."

Governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma, who served as the godmother of the graduating class, commended the university community's resilience and expressed hope for the CUM to evolve into an autonomous university.

Dr. Suzanne Yameogo, mission officer at the Manga University Center, highlighted the theme's relevance to the nation's future, emphasizing the importance of an educated and enterprising youth.

Josephine Ouedraogo, representing the graduates, expressed gratitude towards the teaching staff and officials of CUM and Norbert Zongo University, reiterating the importance of their skills in advancing Burkina Faso's socio-economic development.

The Manga University Centre, inaugurated in 2019, offers programs in agro-sylvo-pastoral and socio-anthropology, psychology, and philosophy.
