MANGA – On Thursday, in a ceremony coinciding with the launch of the 2024 fodder production campaign, the three leading fodder producers from the 2023-2024 season were awarded bonuses and production equipment. The event took place in Manga, underlining the government’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity in the region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the producers received awards ranging from cash bonuses of one million 150 thousand to 750 thousand and essential production equipment. Olivier Paré, from Dédougou in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, claimed the first national prize. Reflecting on his achievement, Paré expressed his resolve to uphold his performance, emphasizing the recognition of his work by the entire nation.
Marcel Da, the Director General of Animal Production, lauded the recipients for their contributions to the fodder production sector and encouraged them to maintain their momentum into the next campaign. Livestock breeding, a vital sub-sector of Burkina Faso’s economy, contributes over 18% to the national GDP and engages more than 80% of the population. Despite these figures, the production of sufficient fodder remains a challenge for the sector’s ambitious goals.
