MANDERA: Mandera County’s 60th Jamhuri Day festivities in Rhamu, Mandera North, underscored the region’s commitment to enhancing healthcare and ensuring security through community collaboration. Local leaders used the occasion to highlight the importance of these priorities for the county’s development.
According to Kenya News Agency, Mandera Governor Mohamed Khalif urged residents to enroll in the government’s Universal Health Coverage programme, known as SHA, during the celebrations. He emphasized that this initiative is crucial for providing essential health services to all residents, aiming to address the persistent healthcare challenges in the county. Governor Khalif announced that over 40,000 residents have already been registered in the SHA system, applauding the efforts of healthcare advocates and encouraging more participation from the community.
In a related address, Mandera County Commissioner Henry Ochako warned against any actions that disrupt peace in the region. He assured residents that secu
rity forces remain vigilant and called for community support to maintain stability. “Peace is essential for development. We must all work together to ensure Mandera remains secure for everyone,” Ochako stated.
