Mandera, Kenya – In a significant move to enhance healthcare accessibility, the Mandera County government recently inaugurated the Kamor Health Centre in Mandera East.

According to Kenya News Agency, this new facility is set to benefit over 15,000 residents in the area, providing a range of services including maternity care, outpatient and inpatient consultations, and health awareness programs.

Governor Mohamed Khalif highlighted the opening of the Kamor Health Centre as a key milestone in the county’s efforts to improve the health and well-being of its residents. He stressed the importance of the centre in delivering critical healthcare services to the Kamor locality and outlined plans to establish more health centres in remote areas of the county, with a particular focus on enhancing maternity care services.

Urging residents to work in collaboration with the health centre’s staff, Governor Khalif emphasized the role of community cooperation in ensuring effective healthcare delivery. The establishment of the Kamor Health Centre represents a strategic effort to reduce the burden on the County Referral Hospital by providing comprehensive healthcare services closer to the community.

Local residents have expressed their gratitude towards the county government for the establishment of the health centre, noting that the community has awaited such a facility for over 30 years. Positioned to serve as a primary point of contact for healthcare needs, the Kamor Health Centre is expected to alleviate pressure on the County Referral Hospital and enhance the overall health and well-being of the community through proactive healthcare initiatives, early detection, and timely interventions.
