NANKUDU — A 50-year-old man is fighting for his life at Nankudu District Hospital after being brutally attacked at his homestead in Nkurenkuru. The incident, involving two men who allegedly slit the victim's throat with an okapi knife, occurred on Saturday evening.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the weekend crime report from the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Kavango West Region, the attack happened around 20:00 at Maporeza location. It is reported that the victim was alone when the two suspects assaulted him and then fled the scene. The motive for the attack remains unclear, although it has been noted that one of the suspects is known to the victim. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the assault.
In a separate incident in Nkurenkuru, a 23-year-old man was arrested on allegations of raping a 20-year-old woman. The alleged rape occurred early Friday morning when the suspect reportedly dragged the victim into the bushes behind the Woermann Brock shop and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Kahenge Magistrate's Court on Monday.
Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
