Okahandja: A 23-year-old man died from a stab wound to his chest during a dispute with his 17-year-old girlfriend at the Saamstaan informal settlement in Okahandja. The incident occurred on Saturday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, stated in a media release on Sunday that the deceased, identified by his family as Pernadino Cloete, was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend during an argument over money for groceries.
Following the stabbing, Cloete was transported to the Okahandja State Hospital by his sister but was declared dead upon arrival. The suspect fled the scene but later surrendered to the Okahandja police on Saturday afternoon. She was subsequently arrested and charged with murder.
The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate's Court this week. Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
