Omuthiya: The police at Omuthiya have opened an inquest following the electrocution of a 25-year-old man at Oshifukwa village in the Omuthiya constituency. The incident, which involved Boy Boy Makango, a resident of Omalindi village, occurred on Saturday around 14h00.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a Namibian Police Force (NamPol) weekend crime report revealed that Makango was electrocuted while attempting to access a mini tipper truck. The truck was offloading sand when its tipping box made contact with a Nored electrical line, electrifying the truck's body. Makango was transported to Omuthiya District State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body was subsequently moved to Omuthiya Police mortuary for an autopsy. Makango's next of kin have been notified.
In an unrelated incident on the same day, the body of 32-year-old Ngweda Ndeshihatela was found under a tree with a rope around her neck in Ekonghola village, Nehale LyaMpingana Constituency. The body was also taken to Omuthiya police mortuary for a postmortem.
Similarly, the body of 60-year-old Victoria Kauluma was discovered hanging from a tree by a family member in their mahangu field at Likokola village in the Onayena area. This incident occurred around 00h10 on Saturday. No suicide note was found, and the body was sent to Onandjokwe State Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
At Tsintsabis settlement, 25-year-old Ndamona Naib was found hanging from a tree branch on Wednesday. Naib had left a suicide note in his room, which was discovered by his brother. His body was found by community members in the nearby bushes. Naib's next of kin have been informed, and his body was taken to Tsumeb State Hospital mortuary for autopsy.
