Tsumeb: The police in the Oshikoto Region are investigating the death of a 41-year-old man who died in a shack fire in Tsumeb on Tuesday. The incident occurred around 22h00, according to Oshikoto Regional Crime and Investigation Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Titus Ekandjo.
According to Namibia Press Agency - English, Ekandjo said the man died while attempting to salvage his belongings from the fire in his shack in the Soweto location. When he noticed the flames spreading to adjacent rooms, he began moving belongings to safety with the help of a neighbour. He went back into his room and did not come back out, the deputy commissioner added.
The remains of the deceased were transported to the Tsumeb State Hospital mortuary. Police investigations into the cause of the fire continue.
