Oshikoto region: A man died in an accident on the gravel road between Omuntele and Uukwiyuushona in the Oshikoto Region on Saturday. The accident occurred around 16h30, Namibian Police Force spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, said in the weekend crime report.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Shikwambi stated that the driver of the white Toyota pickup lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and overturn. Police established that the driver was unlicensed at the time of the accident. "The driver, a 60-year-old Namibian male pensioner, and one passenger sustained serious injuries," Shikwambi said. The passenger, an older male, died on the scene.
The deceased's next of kin have been informed, and a police investigation into the accident is ongoing. In a separate incident on Friday, a 95-year-old man drowned in a well at Ongungila village. Shikwambi reported that the man's body was discovered by his daughter, who had gone searching for him after he went missing from his home. Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning continue.
