Kafuma: A 22-year-old man, identified as Damian Haikera, was allegedly attacked by a crocodile while bathing at a river in Kafuma village, Kavango West Region. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday at around 15h00.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga of The Namibian Police Force confirmed the attack. It is alleged that Haikera was at the river for bathing when he was attacked by a crocodile.
Muronga reported that the victim managed to escape with a broken right arm and some bruises on his right foot and left arm. Public members rescued him and he was initially taken to Nankudu Hospital for treatment. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Rundu State Hospital for further medical attention.
Muronga urged community members to exercise caution and avoid swimming in the river during the flood season. He emphasized that people should always be accompanied when near the river, as it is a habitat for reptiles and dangerous animals like crocodiles and hippos, with snakes also posing a threat.
