Malindi, Kenya – Students in Malindi and Magarini Sub Counties, part of Kilifi County, are rejoicing after achieving high scores in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations. Celebrations were particularly vibrant at Bandacho Primary School in Magarini Sub County, despite a slight drop in the school’s overall performance compared to the previous year.
According to Kenya News Agency, a decrease from the 17 candidates who achieved the same feat in the 2023 examinations. Salim Rabia Hussein, aged 15, topped the school with 408 marks and aspires to attend Kenya High School, aiming for a career as a bank manager. Her classmate, Matthias Moses Charo, who scored 402 marks, hopes to join Kapsabet High School and become a surgeon.
Mbaji Stephen Kithi and Ngala Daniel Alison, both 14 years old and scoring 400 marks each, shared their goals of joining Kapsabet High School and pursuing careers as a lawyer and a surgeon, respectively. They attributed their success to hard work, discipline, and the dedication of teachers and parents.
Constance Kanze Mwaria, the School Headteacher, expressed her disappointment with this year’s results, considering the 2023 class’s potential. Some parents also voiced their dissatisfaction, suggesting a need to review the results for possible inconsistencies.
Meanwhile, Kingsway Junior School, where the highest candidate scored 388 marks, celebrated their results with song and dance. School Manager Jane Waithaka and Headteacher Edwin Onyango were delighted with the achievements, which they attributed to hard work and discipline. Isaac Mwaka, who scored 388 marks, dreams of joining Murang’a High School and becoming a neurosurgeon, while Jane Chengo, with 349 marks, aims to attend Moi Forces Academy, Lanet, and pursue a medical career.
