Malian President Assimi GOÏTA Visits Ouagadougou for Bilateral Talks


OUAGADOUGOU — Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, President of the Republic of Mali, arrived in Ouagadougou on Tuesday for his inaugural friendship and working visit to Burkina Faso, where he will engage in crucial discussions with his Burkinabe counterpart, Captain Ibrahim TRAORE.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the visit underscores the robust cooperative ties between Mali and Burkina Faso, with the leaders set to discuss key issues such as anti-terrorism efforts and socio-economic development, as well as their countries’ aspirations for greater sovereignty. This marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations, particularly at a time when both are confronting severe security challenges.



The talks are part of broader regional efforts under the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), which includes Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. These countries have committed to a unified strategy to combat terrorist threats and stabilize the region. The Ouagadougou meeting aims to further solidify this alliance and enhance the collaborative initiatives aimed at securing peace and prosperity for the peoples of the involved nations.
