Malian Armed Forces Neutralize Terrorists and Seize Equipment

BAMAKO — The Malian Armed Forces have successfully neutralized several terrorists and destroyed a significant amount of their military equipment following a series of operations across various localities from July 14 to July 18. This military action comes in response to a recent terrorist attack at the Sandaré security post in the Nioro Region of the Sahel.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the operations included a successful defense against a terrorist assault on July 18, where the Sandaré security post was targeted by attackers using motorcycles and vehicles. The assault caused damage to the gendarmerie brigade and resulted in the burning of two military vehicles, although no human casualties were reported.

The press release detailed several other significant engagements, including the dismantling of a terrorist base in Waramata, Yorosso Circle, on July 14. The military operation led to the recovery of various items such as walkie-talkies, ammunition, military footwear, and provisions. Another operation on July 17 in Daouna, 45 km west of Niono, resulted in several terrorists being neutralized and the capture of equipment including motorcycles, submachine guns, and communication devices.

The Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to combating terrorism and maintaining security, ensuring the public of ongoing efforts to track and counter terrorist activities across the nation. The military’s high command remains vigilant and continues their reconnaissance missions to prevent further terrorist activities.
