Bamako: On the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the investiture of the President of the Transition of Mali, General Assimi Goïta, the vital forces of the Malian nation mobilized in large numbers this Sunday, June 7, 2026, at the Palais des Sports in Bamako to reaffirm their support for his action, while welcoming the progress made in the process of rebuilding Mali as well as the dynamics of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES). According to Burkina Information Agency, this event was held in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor and organized at the call of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Participants gathered to express their support for the initiatives undertaken over the past five years aimed at refounding the nation. Northern communities, like the Higher Council of Imghad and Allies (CSIA), led by Major General El Hadj Gamou, acknowledged the period as "five years of patriotism." The Kel Ansar and Allies community, under the leadership of the Honorable Abdoul Magid Ag Mohamed Ahmed Alansary (Nasser), empha sized placing sovereignty at the forefront of national priorities. The Alliance for Peace and National Concord (Tamouzôk) extended their support to the entire Alliance of Sahel States (AES). Religious leaders, including the High Islamic Council of Mali and the Christian community, as well as youth organizations through the National Youth Council (CNJ) and women's associations, demonstrated their unity while paying tribute to the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) for their commitment to combating terrorism. This widespread support was highlighted in a report presented by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba. He underscored the strengthening of the national armed forces, the adoption of the new Constitution, the overhaul of the judicial system, and the restoration of the dignity of Malian citizens. The minister also emphasized the dynamism of AES, marked by the creation of the Confederation, the introduction of a biometric identity card, and banking restructuring projects. Addressing techno logical advancements, the Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Modernization of Administration, Alhamdou Ag Ilyène, outlined significant progress made during the five-year term. Notably, a strategic cooperation project with Russia concerning the acquisition of satellites and the creation of a space agency was highlighted, which includes a focus on the training of Malian students. The minister also acknowledged advancements in the digitalization of public administration, such as improvements in payment procedures, civil status, and the issuance of criminal records. This major gathering celebrates five years of resilience, reforms, and the reaffirmation of national sovereignty, while opening new perspectives for Mali and the Alliance of Sahel States.
