Mali/AES Ministerial Meeting Highlights Economic Integration Efforts

Bamako: The Confederal Bank for Investment and Development (BCID-AES) is poised to play a pivotal role in the economic integration of the Sahel region, as highlighted during the Ministerial Meeting of the Confederation of Sahel States. The meeting, held at the CICB, was attended by the Prime Minister of Niger and his counterpart, Major General Abdoulaye Maga, focusing on the "Development" pillar.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ministerial meeting is a crucial step in financing the common infrastructure and sustainable development goals of the confederate states. The creation of the BCID-AES marks significant progress towards economic integration within the region. Dr. Aboubakar Nacanabo, the Minister of Economy and Finance of Burkina Faso, expressed optimism about the meeting, noting its potential to position the Sahel as a key player on both African and global stages.

Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine of Niger urged stakeholders to actively engage in implementing the shared objectives of the three countries. Major General Abdoulaye Maga emphasized the significance of this meeting as a new chapter in the shared history of the Sahel states, highlighting the ambition for regained sovereignty and a reimagined future under the leadership of the Confederation of States of the AES.

The leaders of the Sahel, including Captain Ibrahim Traor© of Burkina Faso, Army General Assimi Gota of Mali, and Army General Abdourahamane Tiani of Niger, have collectively laid out a vision for the region's integration, which aims to boost the local market, strengthen the industrial base, and create job opportunities for the youth. Major General Maga concluded with a hopeful message, underscoring the establishment of the Alliance of Sahel States as a significant moment for Pan-African unity.
