Rundu: Malaysia's manufacturing industry recorded an 82.9 percent rate of capacity utilization in the third quarter of 2025, a 0.5 percentage point increase compared to the same quarter of the preceding year, official data showed on Tuesday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) stated that in this quarter, all sub-sectors posted capacity utilization above 80 percent. The highest rate was recorded by the transport equipment and other manufactures at 85.5 percent, which marked an increase of 1.7 percentage points.
Following this was a 1.2 percentage point increase in the food, beverages, and tobacco sub-sector, which reached a rate of 83.7 percent. Compared to the second quarter, the capacity utilization of the manufacturing industry grew by 0.4 percentage point.
In the third quarter, the capacity utilization in the export-oriented industries grew by 0.2 percentage point year-on-year to 82 percent. The highest rates were registered in the manufacture of electrical equipment sub-sectors and the manufacture of furniture sub-sectors, which rose by 2.4 percentage points to 85.1 percent and by 1.6 percentage points to 85.2 percent, respectively.
