SHAN STATE—In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Myanmar police have confiscated 109,000 stimulant tablets in Shan State, as reported by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC).
According to Namibia Press Agency, the operation was carried out in Kengtung town, where a joint anti-narcotics task force, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a motorcycle carrying the illicit drugs on Friday. Two suspects were apprehended at the scene and have since been charged in connection with the seizure.
The CCDAC disclosed that the stimulant tablets have an estimated street value of 43.6 million kyats (approximately 20,760 U.S. dollars). The authorities are continuing their investigations to trace further links and origins of the drug supply.
