Mahamoudou Korgo Elected President of Kourittenga Cycling District


KOUPÉLA—Mahamoudou Korgo, the head of Vélo Club de Koupéla, has been elected as the president of the cycling district for Kourittenga province, securing a four-year term in a decisive vote this Saturday.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the election took place in Koupéla in the presence of key figures including the provincial director in charge of Sport and representatives from the cycling league of Tenkodogo, along with members from the three cycling clubs of Kourittenga. The process also saw the election of two auditors, with two of the three registered clubs casting votes.



In his acceptance remarks, President Korgo expressed gratitude for the renewed trust and outlined his vision for the term ahead. He plans to focus on training young cyclists, especially boosting women’s participation in the sport, and organizing district-level competitions to showcase local talent and enhance the profile of cycling in Kourittenga.



Diao Salif, the president of the Centre-East cycling league, commended the peaceful election process and affirmed his support for the new administration, emphasizing the potential for significant positive changes under Korgo’s leadership. He encouraged unity and collaboration among all cycling clubs in the district.



Sandaogo Antoine Yaogo, the Provincial Director in charge of Sport, also congratulated the new president and urged all members of the cycling community to foster unity, understanding, and solidarity to elevate the sport’s status in the province.



The newly formed executive office of the cycling district comprises a president, vice-president, general secretary, general treasurer, assistant general treasurer, organizational secretary, and two auditors, setting the stage for a dynamic term under Korgo’s leadership.
