Luanda: Attorney General H©lder Pitta Groz emphasized that the authority of magistrates is derived from their credibility and integrity, rather than the power granted by law. This was articulated during the opening ceremony of an intensive training course for prosecutors and deputy prosecutors.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Attorney General highlighted that the training aims to enhance personal and institutional skills, preparing participants for the judiciary's challenges. He described the initiative as a testament to the Public Prosecutor's Office's confidence in the professional maturity and independence of deputy prosecutors, equipping them to shoulder greater responsibilities in upholding justice and the rule of law.
Pitta Groz further explained that promotion in the judiciary involves embracing additional responsibilities, requiring rigor, courage, and a firm adherence to reality, objectivity, and autonomy principles. He emphasized that the course is crucial for developing the necessary skills to navigate new challenges within the judiciary.
He encouraged prosecutors to prepare for expanded roles within courts of appeal and various directorates and services at central, regional, and provincial levels. The course is specifically tailored to equip magistrates for duties in second-instance and appellate courts.
