Windhoek: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR) has announced the suspension of importing raw bran and milling by-products from Angola for use in animal feed. This decision was made due to non-compliance with veterinary import requirements.
According to Namibia Press Agency, a notice from the ministry's directorate of veterinary services indicated that the suspension is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. All previously issued import permits have been cancelled as part of this measure.
The notice stated, "The importation of bran and other milling by-products from Angola has been suspended with effect from 05 January 2026 until further notice. Consequently, all previously issued import permits are hereby cancelled." The measure aims to provide an opportunity for veterinary authorities in both countries to discuss and agree on future importation protocols for these products into Namibia.
