Maasai Mara University Lecturer Urges Youth to Pursue Productive Ventures for a Brighter Future

Melelo, Narok South Sub County – Young individuals in Melelo are being encouraged to harness their full potential and engage in productive activities for a prosperous future. This call to action was emphasized during a recent address by a local academic.

According to Kenya News Agency, a lecturer at Maasai Mara University, the youth should steer clear of unproductive activities such as drug abuse, excessive clubbing, and overindulgence in social media. Instead, he advocates for their involvement in constructive business ventures. Yiaile highlighted the crucial role of effective time management in realizing one’s potential, describing time as the greatest asset any individual possesses. He addressed the issue of negative peer pressure among young people, encouraging them to remain focused on their personal goals and aspirations.

Yiaile cautioned that failing to make the most of one’s youth could lead to lifelong regrets. He also called upon parents to play a supportive role, particularly in facilitating their children’s access to tertiary education. This support, he believes, is key to enabling young individuals to become professionals who can contribute positively to societal development.

In his address, Yiaile also touched upon the issue of teenage pregnancy, urging parents to give their daughters a second chance at education rather than rushing them into marriages, particularly with older individuals. He emphasized the importance of education for young girls and the need for them to be given opportunities to correct their mistakes without facing life-altering consequences.

Furthermore, Yiaile advised young people to abstain from premarital sex and instead concentrate on their studies to achieve excellence in life.

Adding to the discourse, Murani Mintilla, a journalist from the Melelo area, encouraged the youth to embrace technology. He sees technology as a tool for creating new inventions and opportunities to earn money, thus opening doors for innovative entrepreneurship among young people.
