Lukashenko Expresses Condolences to Iran Over Deadly Port Blast

Minsk: Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Sunday sent a message of condolence to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian following the deadly explosion at Shahid Rajaee port in the city of Bandar Abbas.



According to Namibia Press Agency, on Saturday, a large blast occurred in the port in the southern Iranian city of Bandar Abbas. Media reported that it could have been caused by chemicals stored improperly, but authorities have yet to comment. According to the latest reported data on casualties, 25 people died in the blast and over 1,100 were injured.



“This news has been met with profound sorrow in Belarus,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the Belta news agency. On behalf of the Belarusian people, and on his own personal, the president extended condolences to the victims’ families, wished the injured swift recovery, and offered support to all those affected by the tragedy.
