Luau Photovoltaic Solar Park Begins Supplying Electricity in Moxico Leste

Luau: The Luau photovoltaic solar park in the Province of Moxico Leste is set to begin supplying electricity to the local population in the coming days. The completion of the construction project marks the start of the infrastructure's operational phase.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the solar park boasts an installed capacity of 32.20 MWp and includes a battery storage system of 79.77 MWh. The park comprises approximately 55,000 solar panels, ensuring a continuous 24-hour energy supply. This development is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing energy access and improving living conditions for local communities. Currently, around 20,000 household connections are being established, benefiting over 100,000 residents.

The investment aligns with the Government's policy to promote renewable energies, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and rationalize public spending. The Ministry of Energy and Water (MINEA) predicts annual savings of more than 12 million liters of fuel, underscoring the project's potential to contribute to energy sustainability in the region.
