Luanda, Angola – Angola’s football team Sagrada Esperança da Lunda Norte suffered a 0-1 loss against Libya’s Abu Salim Sports Club in Annaba City, Algeria. The match, part of the second round (Group B) of the African Football Confederation (CAF) Cup, also known as the Nelson Mandela Trophy, took place on Sunday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the sole goal of the game was scored by Abdulmunem Aleyan in the 88th minute, leading to Abu Salem SC’s victory at the 19 May Stadium. The Angolan team, which now holds three points, had previously secured a 2-0 win against Guinea’s CO Coyah in the first round at the 11 de Novembro Stadium in Luanda. In another CAF Cup fixture, Angola’s Académica do Lobito (Group C) faced a 0-3 defeat against Tunisia’s Club Africain on Sunday, following their opening loss to Nigeria’s Rivers United Football Club with the same scoreline. Additionally, South Africa’s SuperSport United FC experienced a 0-2 home defeat by Union Sportive de la Médina d’Alger (USM Alger) in Group A.
