Luanda, Angola – Public Works Minister Commends Builders on Angolan Builder’s Day

Luanda, Angola – On the occasion of the 46th anniversary of Angolan Builder’s Day, celebrated on December 3rd, Carlos’s dos Santos, the Minister of Public Works, Urbanism, and Housing, acknowledged the significant contributions of employees and collaborators in the construction sector towards creating a modern and inclusive Angola.

According to Angola Press News Agency, in his remarks, Minister dos Santos underscored the importance of building public infrastructures that stimulate economic growth and harmonious development in Angola, citing this as the key priority of his ministry. He emphasized the need for collaboration between public and private entities to continue propelling the Angolan economy forward and maintaining the construction sector’s role in job creation and bridging physical, cultural, and psychological gaps among Angolans. The Minister also noted Builders’ Day as a fitting occasion to honor the sector’s pioneers, including the First President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, who established the event on December 3, 1977, following his visit to housing buildings in Luanda’s Bairro Golf. Carlos’s dos Santos extended his appreciation and recognition to all involved in the building sector, including contractors, planners, inspectors, artisans, professional associations, and other social partners, for their collective efforts in building a better Angola. The Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism, and Housing (MINOPUH) serves as an auxiliary body to the Head of State, responsible for proposing, executing, and controlling the government’s policies, programmes, and projects in its areas of operation.
