L©raba: A Lifeless Body Was Found After a Fuel Tanker Fire

L©raba: A tanker truck filled with gasoline caught fire on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Konadougou, a department located a short distance from the urban commune of Sindou, the capital of the L©raba province. The fire resulted in one death (the owner of the premises) and two injuries.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the incident occurred in front of a gas station. The lifeless body found burned was that of the owner of the premises, AIB learned from the victim's parents. As for the two injured, one of them, a tanker truck apprentice, was seriously injured and reportedly evacuated to the regional referral hospital in Banfora. The other, the victim's nephew, who sustained minor injuries, is hospitalized at the Sindou medical center with a surgical unit.

Several of the victim's belongings, including his car, his new motorcycle, jerrycans of gasoline, several bags of sesame, millet, and cashew nuts, were destroyed by the flames. According to local residents, the fire started around 3 p.m. Police from Sindou reportedly arrived around 4 p.m. to secure the area while awaiting the arrival of firefighters from Banfora.

The tanker truck reportedly left the SONABHY depot in Bobo-Dioulasso for Konadougou and arrived around 3 p.m., where it parked for unloading. During the operation, the apprentices allegedly accidentally spilled some fuel, which sparked the fire. While trying to quickly stop the fuel leak, one of the apprentices was reportedly engulfed in flames. The second, who was attempting to save some belongings, suffered the same fate.
