Loroum Education Leaders Convene to Revitalize School Activities Amid Security Challenges

OUAHIGOYA — Educational stakeholders of Loroum Province, led by High Commissioner Djibril Bassolé, gathered on Tuesday to deliberate strategies for revitalizing education in the region, particularly in the embattled town of Titao. The meeting, relocated to Ouahigouya due to security concerns, brought together local government and education officials to ensure a steady resumption of school activities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the session involved presidents of the special delegations from the communes of Banh, Ouindigui, Sollé, and Titao, along with provincial directors, education department heads, educational supervisors, teachers, and leaders of associations dedicated to education. The discussions focused on developing effective initiatives to overcome the challenges posed by the deteriorating security situation since December 2021, which forced the relocation of state services, including education, to safer areas.

The participants also recognized the efforts of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP), who are active in the conflict zones of Titao, by contributing 127,500 CFA francs to support their operations. This gesture underscores the community’s commitment to safeguarding educational operations and supporting security measures essential for restoring normalcy in the province.
