Loroum Artists Unite for Regional Culture Week Competitions

Ouahigouya: The Yaadga Regional Culture Week competitions commenced with fervor as 35 artists from Loroum province converged in Ouahigouya on the evening of Friday, September 12, 2025. These artists are vying for a chance to represent their province at the National Culture Week (SNC) in Bobo 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the participating artists and supervisors have organized themselves into three distinct troupes for the event. The Nuguri of ToulfE will compete in the star category of traditional song, while the RelwendE troupe of Noogo and the RelwendE troupe of Bouna will participate in the traditional adult pool dance category. Additionally, two women, Mamouna KagonE and Marie Pierre Yampa, will showcase their culinary skills by presenting four different dishes.

The Loroum Provincial Director of Culture, Issaka Salgo, expressed his appreciation for the artists' dedication and resolve, particularly in light of the challenging security environment in the province. Salgo extended his encouragement to the participants, highlighting their role in honoring and representing Loroum, especially since the province has not competed in the past two editions of the event.

Salgo also urged the community to rally behind the artists, calling upon the sons and daughters of Loroum to support their cultural ambassadors. The regional cultural qualifiers, acting as a gateway to the SNC 2026, are scheduled to take place from September 12 to 13, 2025, in Ouahigouya.
