Loroum/48 Hours of the Teacher: Educational Stakeholders Reflect on Alternatives to Security Challenges

Loroum: The provincial directorate of preschool, primary and non-formal education in Loroum celebrated the 48 hours of the teacher from May 6 to 7, 2026, in Titao, with the theme "Security challenges and educational alternatives for all in Loroum". This event, marking its second edition, was sponsored by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Aboubacar Nacanabo, and patronized by the High Commissioner of the province of Loroum, Captain Djibril Bassol©. It gathered primary school teachers and supervisors for a series of activities aimed at fostering educational resilience amidst security challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the event featured conferences on educational resilience, exhibitions of local food, board games, and a football match, all designed to promote coexistence between civilian populations and the defense and security forces. Sidiki Mand©, the provincial director of preschool, primary and non-formal education in Loroum, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in the current context marked by security and humanitarian crises. He emphasized that these gatherings help strengthen cooperation among stakeholders and foster strategic reflections on maintaining educational quality for children in insecure environments.

Mand© further noted that these 48 hours provide a much-needed recreational platform, allowing education professionals to relax and encouraging different social groups to unite their efforts towards educational success. Pascal Waongo, the regional director of preschool, primary and non-formal education in Yaadga, commended the commitment of Loroum's teachers, which has facilitated the gradual return of children to school despite challenging circumstances.

Waongo also pointed out that this celebration coincides with the week of recognition for teachers and the week of African languages and International Mother Language Day, marking an opportune moment to honor educators' dedication. High Commissioner Captain Djibril Bassol© recognized the teachers' efforts in overcoming difficult security conditions and urged all stakeholders to support educational reforms. He called for cooperative efforts to realize the vision of providing quality education to all.

To further enhance cohesion among participants, a football match was conducted between the Defense and Security Forces team and the civilian population team from Loroum, embodying the spirit of unity and collaboration.
