Pouni: The residents of Pouni-South gathered in a general assembly at the town hall of Pouni, officially launching the 'Ne Koin Association of Pouni-South' with the shared ambition of enhancing local development and strengthening social cohesion.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, which was characterized by a spirit of fraternity and unity, marked a significant turning point for the people of Pouni-Sud, who came together from various localities within Burkina Faso and from the diaspora. Under the leadership of Ars¨ne Guel, the initiative aims to organize community efforts in line with Law No. 011-2025/ALT of July 17, 2025, which pertains to freedom of association.
The assembly's agenda included the adoption of the statutes and internal regulations of the new association framework, which is set to replace the previous virtual group known as "Association Groupes Familiaux de Pouni." At the conclusion of the proceedings, a seven-member executive board, headed by Ars¨ne Guel, was elected for a three-year term, renewable once. Additionally, two auditors were appointed to ensure transparency and financial oversight within the organization.
The association's members have embraced a 'commitment, availability, and accountability' approach to guide their actions. The newly established board has already outlined the priority areas of a three-year action plan (2026-2028), aimed at initiating sustainable development in the locality.
The mobilization of traditional leaders, youth, and women received widespread praise from all participants. A call was made to elected officials and the entire population to engage in coordinated action, deemed essential for the harmonious development and socioeconomic advancement of Pouni-Sud.
