Local Consumption Month in Dori Focuses on Challenges of Supporting Local Products

Dori: The Sahel Regional Trade Directorate commemorated the fifth edition of “Local Consumption Month” on October 4, 2024, with a series of activities aimed at promoting local products and discussing the challenges associated with their consumption.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the High Commissioner of the Séno Province, the event was dedicated to promoting the consumption of locally produced goods as a means to foster industrial development, competitiveness, and economic resilience within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA). The month of October was designated as “Local Consumption Month” by UEMOA’s Conference of Trade Ministers in 2019.



Bamas paid tribute to local producers and processors for their efforts in supplying the market with healthy, local products. He urged participants to support the local cultural industry and show patriotism by embracing this initiative.



The activities in Dori included visits to small and medium-sized enterprises, workshops on the challenges of local consumption, and sports activities. The Regional Director of Trade, Mr. Calfassoro Konaté, also highlighted the role of local consumption in strengthening regional economies.
