Comoe: The Lobi and related people of Dj´r´ symbolically took hostage the throne of the new chief of the village of Timperba, shortly before the enthronement ceremony of His Majesty Oumar Soma, the 9th chief of said village, in the commune of Niangoloko.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this action was part of a traditional joking relationship and led to friendly exchanges between the different parties involved. After a series of negotiations, the throne was returned in exchange for a rooster and a sum of money, as per traditional practices.
This event highlights the significance of joking relationships in the region as a mechanism for social regulation and strengthening cohesion between communities. The "dambol," who were the authors of this symbolic capture, marked the occasion with their presence, demonstrating the vitality of local traditions.
